East Bank wine bar to open next week

Oct. 16, 2018

R Wine Bar plans to open Oct. 22 in the Frank Building at 322 E. Eighth St.

That’s next to Queen City Bakery and in the space that used to be Prairie Berry East Bank.

Owner Riccardo Tarabelsi most recently worked at Fernson Brewing Co. but wanted to have his own business and focus on Italian wines.

The wine list includes eight whites by the glass, including a prosecco, and 12 reds by the glass, including a Chianti. There also are about 50 wines by the bottle, including a reserve list.

There are 12 beers on tap, including several from downtown neighbors Fernson, Remedy and WoodGrain.

The food menu includes meat and cheese assortments, homemade pesto, olives, salads and paninis. Take a look here:

R Wine Bar also is booking events. One room on the main floor can accommodate up to 60 people, while Dante’s – the name for the basement space – can seat 24 and has a speakeasy feel.

Once weather allows, R Wine Bar plans to use its west-side patio and add bocce ball.

Hours will be 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 3 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
