Name: Tanner Solberg

Age: 28

Hometown: Dell Rapids

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

I started my career with Journey Group, which ultimately led me to move to Sioux Falls.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

My wife and I’s family lives around the surrounding area, so we wanted to stay close to them and be able to enjoy the downtown life and the many places you can enjoy a nice beverage and meal.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

The favorite thing about my job is getting to see the owners’ reaction when they see their projects come to life. It is so rewarding being able to play an integral part in their dream project.

How did you get connected to your industry?

When I was around 13, my dad was building the house that he lives in today, and I got to help him along the way. This was about my first taste of any sort of building, which sparked my interest in construction. I also have a lot of friends in this industry as well.

Describe your workplace in three words.

Supportive, fun, engaging.

What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?

My wife and I are expecting our first child in December 2023!

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

I really enjoy serving at The Banquet and volunteering at events like the BackPack Program. I’m also involved in the Sioux Empire United Way.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

I would have to say Raising Canes or Trader Joe’s.

If you had $1 million to start a business, what kind of business would it be?

I think I would start some sort of youth baseball training facility/program. I’m very passionate about baseball and would love to start something that could bring the passion of baseball to kids.
