Dressbarn to close all stores

May 20, 2019

Dressbarn is shutting down, which includes closing its store in Sioux Falls.

It’s located at 2814 S. Louise Ave.

Dressbarn, which is owned by Ascena Retail Group, said Monday that it’s closing all 650 stores so the company can focus on its more profitable brands. Those include Ann Taylor and Loft.

“This decision was difficult but necessary as the Dressbarn chain has not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today’s retail environment,” Dressbarn CFO Steven Taylor said in a news release.

While a timeline wasn’t outlined, the closures won’t start right away, and customers can continue to shop in store and online.

There are no current changes to Dressbarn’s return, refund or gift card policies.

Dressbarn has been in business for more than 50 years.

“During the wind-down process, we will continue to provide our customers with the same great experience both in store and online, offering them even better deals and value,” Taylor said. “We will work to assist our associates through the transition and maintain existing relationships with our vendors, suppliers and other key stakeholders through this process.”
