Downtown Sioux Falls names Mash Madness champion

April 5, 2023

Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars has been named winner of the Mash Madness competition.

Organized by Downtown Sioux Falls Inc., the seventh annual contest for best brew drew entries from five breweries.

Covert Artisan Ales’ entry, the Pineapple Hwhip, was a fruited sour created by whipping together pineapple, Madagascar vanilla and soft serve ice cream and pouring it over sugar cones before turning it into a fruited ale.

Covert Artisan Ales is owned by Dan and Stacey Berry and located at 434 E. Eighth St.

It’s a repeat win for Covert, which also took the honors last year.

This year’s brewery competition drew more than 1,300 votes collected and an estimated 5,000 beers sold across the five breweries.

And if you’re not ready to give up downtown food-related events yet, you’re in luck. Restaurant Week runs April 7-14. Click here for information from participating restaurants.
