Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Scheels is adding Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory. The Colorado-based business has added a store-within-a-store in several Scheels locations. It will offer more than 400 varieties of bulk candy, packaged candy and a candy counter with chocolates, caramel apples and chocolate-covered creations. It’s expected to open in early summer.

Cresten Capital Services has moved to the third floor of the Beach Pay building at 122 S. Phillips Ave.

A Sioux Falls shop selling high-end Italian leather purses has closed its retail storefront at 311 S. Phillips Ave. Luca Papini, owner of Luca: Made in Italy, got out of his lease early after a series of hits to the business, from personal health problems to sales lost amid the pandemic. He will move his inventory to a room on the third floor of the 8th & Railroad Center — the same building that housed his first brick-and-mortar location when he opened five years ago. The hope is that customers will be able to shop by appointment, but Papini ultimately is looking to start over with a new business plan.

Papa’s Pub & Eatery in Dell Rapids has closed but plans to reopen in a new space later this year. The restaurant did not renew its lease in the historic opera house where it opened two years ago, citing “business decisions” on each side. Owners David and Rebecca Ohayon are working to find a new location and hope to be back in business in the summer or fall.

RoundHouse BrewPub is coming to a retail center on 69th Street east of Cliff Avenue. The menu will specialize in salads, wraps, burgers and pizzas. At least five tap lines will be dedicated to beers made by Roundhouse Brewery in Nisswa, Minn., which is near Brainerd. It’s expected to open in June.

Kingbird Coffee Shop in Brandon is providing space for other businesses. It’s serving as the new retail outlet for Gypsy Trading Co., which features locally made, handcrafted items. The coffee shop also began selling doughnuts from Mr. Donuts, which opened in Sioux Falls in January.

An apartment complex, The Rowe on 57th, is being built at 57th Street and Bahnson Avenue. It will be constructed in phases, with the first units opening in April. A second building will be ready in June.

The Lincoln County Economic Development Association and the Minnehaha County Economic Development Association have combined to form Sioux Metro Growth Alliance, an economic development association that will serve the region.

Midwest Wellness Institute has moved its Minnesota operation to Sioux Falls, consolidating its practice in a new headquarters and bringing new specialty treatments to the market. The new clinic is at 4308 S. Arway Drive, off 49th Street and Louise Avenue. It offers in-home telepsychiatry; opioid addiction treatment with Suboxone; forensic, competency and independent psychiatric evaluations; and contracted mental health services.

Fat Kid Filly’s, which started as a food truck last year, is expanding with a kitchen in a Canton bar and a second truck. Fat Kid is taking over the kitchen in Bushwhackers Bar & Grill that was operated most recently by Bone Daddy’s Smokehouse. To start, Fat Kid will operate Friday and Saturday nights on select weekends. The second truck will have the same name and menu.

B&G Milkyway locations are beginning to open for the season. Already open: 69th Street, Sycamore Avenue, Harmodon Park, West 41st Street and Tea. Other dates: Brandon will open March 17, West 12th Street will be open by April 1, and the new location in Harrisburg is expected to be ready in mid-May.

After more than a century in business, Arthur Johnson Shoes is closing with the retirement of owner Tom Coppock. The store at 2804 W. 41st St. is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. A final date has not been set.

La India Taina, a Puerto Rican restaurant, has opened in a retail center at Benson and Cliff. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Dollar Tree has opened its sixth store in the city. It’s in a stand-alone building in the new Westown Marketplace at 41st and Ellis. The dollar store is open daily.

Silverstar Car Wash has opened its newest location at 4401 E. 57th St. New features include self-detailing compressed air tools at the vacuum area and an automatic mat cleaner.

The new Katrina’s Boutique features gently used secondhand clothing for men, women and children. Some new items also are available. The store at 301 S. Garfield Ave. is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
