Downtown bridal shop opts for new location

The new downtown bridal shop Marie & Marie Bridal is opening in a different downtown building than originally planned.

It now will be located in the Boyce-Greeley Building at 11th Street and Phillips Avenue in the former A League of Your Own space.

The sports apparel business is moving across the street to the space of Unglued, which is closing Jan. 10.

Downtown sports retailer to switch storefronts

Marie & Marie is co-owned by sisters Erin Rallis and Kayla Thompson. It was going to be on the third floor of Equity Square a few blocks north on Phillips, but the Boyce-Greeley space became available as they were about to sign the lease.

“So we couldn’t pass it up,” Rallis said. “Although it set our opening date back by a month, we think it was the right decision for our business.”

The shop will sell dresses to brides and bridesmaids, including some brands that haven’t been carried in the Sioux Falls market.

“Our business model has not changed. We only hope the new location will bring in more brides,” Rallis said.

The target opening date is late March or early April. The business is hiring one full-time seamstress and a few part-time bridal consultants. Interviews are being held this month. For information, contact [email protected].
