Downtown boutique opens in new location

There’s a new shopping option downtown in time for First Friday.

Layered Elements has opened in its new location at 317 S. Phillips Ave., which most recently was Twisted Sisters Sweetz.

Taryn Raade founded the store at The Cascade at Phillips Avenue and Second Street in early 2020 with her mother, Heather Herlyn.

It originally specialized in furniture and home decor, but the pandemic created challenges securing enough merchandise.

In its new space, the boutique focuses on neutral and everyday apparel and accessories, including plus-size merchandise and small home and gift items.

“I am very happy with how quickly the space came together! Although there’s still a few little things we need to do, we’re happy to be back open,” Raade said.

“We’re excited to start doing more events, and we’re really working on getting more involved with the downtown action. Overall, I’m feeling very grateful for the new spot and the support from our customers and the neighboring businesses.”

For today’s grand opening, the store will offer free refreshments and a gift with purchase until 6 p.m.

Hours for now are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
