A Sioux Falls couple plans to switch their online business to a brick-and-mortar store later this month.

Diana Navas and Victor Diaz will operate the BOE Discount Store in the former Stride Rite space at 2425 S. Shirley Ave. BOE stands for “Bit of Everything,” Navas said.

“We resell items like furniture and clothes that are all new,” she said. “Customers will find house decor, furniture, clothing, toys. We offer the fun of discovering an item. You can walk around and find different things, like the little odds and ends we’ll have.”

BOE purchases pallets of those items from companies such as Target and Home Depot, Navas said.

The couple, who moved to Sioux Falls 22 years ago, has patterned their business after one that Diaz’s parents operate in Las Vegas. During the COVID pandemic, when it was difficult to shop in person, offering items online on sites like eBay made it easier for customers, Navas said.

Previously, Navas has worked as an interpreter and in banking. They started BOE online in 2022 and plan to operate it full time.

“They’ve always used more of a shop space and online, so they’re taking it to the next level with retail,” said Raquel Blount, vice president of commercial real estate at Lloyd Cos., who brokered the lease for the space.

There was strong interest in the building, and it didn’t take long after the shoe store closed for it to lease, Blount said.

“I think right now with retail space, if people don’t have to do build-outs, that’s helpful. When you have those existing, generalized retail spaces, it works well. They see a path to open and not invest tons of money.”

Navas and her husband had been looking for a western Sioux Falls location for BOE Discount for several months. This building met their needs, Navas said.

“It sees a lot of traffic, and people seem to know the place; they’re familiar with it,” she said.
