Dell Rapids bar gets new owner

Dec. 5, 2025

When Casey Gillette learned that a friend would be selling the Prohibition Pub, she knew she wanted to buy it.

The bar at 313 Garfield Ave. in Dell Rapids opened in 2021.

Gillette purchased the business from its previous owner, T.J. Anderson, in late September.

“The previous owner was a friend of mine, and when they told me they were planning to sell, I was super-proud of them and what they had accomplished but would have hated to see it go to someone who wouldn’t appreciate it or make it something that it’s not,” Gillette said.

“We are ready to bring a fresh energy and even more fun to our community,” she wrote in a Facebook post announcing the transition of ownership.

Gillette calls the pub a low-key, welcoming and relaxing, judgment-free space.

“Newcomers may get harassed a little bit … for fun, obviously,” she said with a laugh.

Prohibition Pub has a full liquor license, 12 tap lines for beer and typical bar food like burgers, pizzas, chicken sandwiches, chislic, wings, appetizers and more.

The bar features weekly specials on food and drinks, live music and entertainment, which is something Gillette looks to continue and expand.

“We love having a place people can go to relax after perhaps a long day.”
