Custom-apparel business moves to retail location, adds items from local makers

Feb. 13, 2026

A business that operated in a residential basement for four years has moved to a new location and expanded its offerings.

605 Threads & Things, a custom-apparel business that offers embroidery and printing, opened in January at 5200 S. Cliff Ave., Suite 103.

With the new location comes a retail space that will partner with local makers to feature their products, said Ignacio “Nacho” Davalos, who owns the business with his wife, Katelyn, and her parents, Lisa and Jeff Lundeen. In addition, 605 Threads & Things will offer gift-giving services. The community can use a space there for meetings, gatherings and small groups or Bible studies, Davalos said.

“We’re a Christian, family-owned business, and our faith is pretty important to us,” he said. “We want to welcome people here and just be a light to people, not only to sell products but to be a blessing to others.”

The Lundeens purchased embroidery machinery four years ago after a friend left the business. Jeff Lundeen works full time at another business, and Lisa Lundeen saw it as an opportunity to merge work she did making flower bouquets and gift baskets for family and friends.

In addition to embroidery, 605 Threads & Things offered screen printing, vinyl printing and DTF, or direct to film, transfers.

“We can embroider on anything from stuffed animals to hats, shirts, hoodies, canvas bags, some blankets, kitchen towels, stuff like that,” Davalos said. “I was just wearing a hoodie that my wife gave me, and it says ‘Dad,’ but instead of the ‘A,’ there’s a picture of me and my daughter embroidered on that.”

The Davaloses have returned to Sioux Falls to join the family business and help it grow. Davalos served as a youth pastor in Minneapolis. He also was a youth pastor at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls for a year before the couple worked with the local nonprofit Mission Haiti for a year. Davalos also managed a pizza restaurant here before it closed.

Now, he has returned to retail with a twist.

“Our goal is to create a place that supports local creators, serves individuals, families and businesses through high-quality custom apparel and branding, and functions as a welcoming, community-oriented space in the south end of Sioux Falls,” Davalos said.

605 Threads & Things offers a showroom with local items and merchandise lines. To expand the shopping experience, the store features items from Juniper Apothecary, a local health and beauty store. A family friend who makes wood items such as cutting boards also will have his products for sale, and Davalos intends to expand with other makers.

“We’re hoping this will be like a small shopping experience and a welcoming environment for people,” he said. “Our clients can come and touch and feel the items they want. Clients can come and look and touch the materials they’re buying before they commit to something.”

The meeting space is design to feel like a living room to welcome mothers’ groups and Bible studies.

The Lundeen and Davalos families think the time is right for the expansion. “The basement was small, and the pace that my mother-in-law was doing, she was doing a lot of stuff by herself,” Davalos said.

605 Threads & Things is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
