Crowd camps out for Schlotzsky’s opening
From staff reports
Customers are lined up outside Schlotzsky’s this morning, awaiting the grand opening and hoping to earn a year’s worth of free sandwiches.
The restaurant at 1501 W. 41st St. opens at 10 a.m.
Schlotzsky’s left Sioux Falls about 15 years ago as part of a larger national closure. The chain since has reinvented itself, adding Cinnabon cinnamon rolls to its lineup of sandwiches, salad and pizza. And the brand will evolve in the coming years, becoming Schlotzsky’s Austin Eatery. The menu will expand to include street food-style items such as tacos and sliders.
Here’s what one early fan had to say about opening day:
Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
