Big Sioux Burger changes name, expands hours, menu

Feb. 3, 2026

Big Sioux Burger has officially become Big Sioux Diner & Dive.

The downtown restaurant, located at The Steel District, changed its name “to highlight its broader menu and appeal to guests looking for classic, chef-driven food and fun,” it said in a statement.

The restaurant was designed with a nostalgic feel and includes a patio with views of the Big Sioux River.

It originally was developed by restaurateurs in the Twin Cities but now is managed by Sioux Falls-based Lloyd Cos., which also developed, built and manages The Steel District.

“As we’ve introduced more guests to this restaurant, it became clear they love the burgers, but they also are huge fans of our breakfast and other menu items and sometimes were surprised to discover all we offered,” said Jake Quasney, Lloyd chief operating officer.

“Along with expanding the menu and hours, it felt like the right time to adjust the name to reflect what the restaurant has become and how we see it evolving.”

Diners will notice that the menu still includes the restaurant’s signature lineup of burgers but also now offers expanded lunch and dinner options.

“There are some great classic diner-inspired entrees we’re excited to introduce,” said Cory Henkel, director of operations.

“We now offer items like fish and chips, mac-and-cheese, a tuna melt and a bacon, lettuce, tomato and guacamole sandwich, plus we’ll continue to introduce ongoing features.”

Guests can choose thin-cut fries or seasoned tots as a side.

A revamped appetizer menu features a new take on cheese curds, walleye bites, fried mushrooms and cauliflower. Based on the popularity of the restaurant’s wings, new boneless wings have been added. An enhanced beverage menu offers an updated selection of beer, wine, signature cocktails, mocktails and NA beverages, as well as a variety of coffee and espresso drinks.

The restaurant also now opens earlier, beginning at 7 a.m. A full breakfast menu features several varieties of omelets, pancakes, French toast and classic breakfast entrees and combos.

“We envision more breakfast meetings and a convenient option for guests at the nearby Canopy hotel starting their day early,” Henkel said.

New hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Big Sioux Burger opened in the fall of 2024 alongside sister restaurant Dahlia Kitchen + Bar and Ironwood Steakhouse. All three concepts were developed in the Twin Cities and now are operated by Lloyd.

“We’re excited to see diners co-mingle throughout The Steel District as they explore all three restaurants and the adjacent Canopy hotel,” Quasney said.

“We’ve always envisioned our patios as spaces where people enjoy an extended stay along the river, and we’re looking into ways our guests can experience as much as possible from all three properties.”
