Northwest Sioux Falls has a new neighborhood bar with the opening of Credo’s Pub.

The pub, which has a full liquor license and 32 tap lines, is in a first-floor commercial space in one of the apartment buildings at University Hills Village along Marion Road.

Credo’s Pub opened earlier this month with a limited menu of pizzas, wraps and a build-your-own salad, but that’s expected to expand this week after an electrical issue in the new space is resolved, said Ethan Harvey, one of its managers and a grandson of owner Dave Birger.

For now, there’s also a limited breakfast menu with sandwiches, burritos and pizza. Breakfast is served from 7 to 11 a.m. weekdays and 9:30 to 11 a.m. on the weekend.

The business is an offshoot of Birger’s BB’s Pub N Grill, which closed its original home at 49th Street and Westport Avenue at the end of the year. BB’s plans to build a new location at 4400 W. University Trail – just north of the apartment complex – and Credo’s is serving as its temporary home.

The full menu will have appetizers, broasted chicken, 14 burgers, almost a dozen chicken sandwiches and a few hoagies. The breakfast menu also will expand.

Daily lunch specials are offered for $8 and will change every week.

The space is in the southwest corner of the apartment building at 5520 W. Success St. and is filled with sunlight from walls of windows on two sides. Seating for 135 customers is available at several high-top tables, a few regular tables and along the bar. There are 12 TVs, and a separate room for video lottery.

A popular weekly offering at BB’s, Fogies Beer School, which features a brewery or distributor highlighting its offerings, starts up again at 6:30 tonight in the new pub. Trivia is offered from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays.

While Credo’s Pub is still in a soft-opening phase until the full menu is ready, BB’s regulars and neighborhood newcomers are finding it, Harvey said.

“New faces, a lot of new people from the apartments around us and definitely just stopping in to check it out.”

Closing times aren’t set it stone, but the pub opens at 7 a.m. weekdays and 9:30 a.m. on the weekend. Typically, it will shut down after the final NFL game Sunday night, 10:30 to 11 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and 11 p.m. to midnight Wednesday through Saturday, Harvey said. Weekend nights could be later depending on the crowds.

Those younger than 21 are welcome in the bar until 10 p.m.
