Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Most B&G Milkyway locations have opened for the season. The West 12th Street location is expected to open closer to April, and the Harrisburg site is transitioning to a new owner and is expected to open sometime in April.

The nonprofit Community Action for Veterans has moved into Suite 121 in a USD Discovery District building at 4600 W. Nobel St. The organization provides outreach, research and care coordination for veterans across 14 eastern South Dakota counties.

A new shop that combines flowers and charcuterie has opened near The Empire Mall. Platter & Petal at 3400 W. 49th St. sells floral bouquets and charcuterie boards, caters for events and weddings with both flowers and food, and offers workshops and kids birthday parties. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

A locally owned small business specializing in gifting has moved into a larger space. Prairie & Pine is a custom corporate gift box design company owned by Sara Rowland that helps  businesses create gifts for clients that feature South Dakota-made products. It’s located at 2301 W. Russell St. in a building that also includes husband Les Rowland’s architecture firm, Design Arc Group. It’s in a temporary studio space there while the permanent suite is being built out.

Top Hat Bar & Lounge will be relocating, but a new site hasn’t been announced yet. Owner Andrea Shaw said she was told her lease at 508 S. First Ave. won’t be renewed when it expires at the end of the year. It has been at the downtown location since 1954.

A Guatemalan bakery and cafe has opened in east-central Sioux Falls. La Huehueteca Bakery & Cafe is at 2400 E. Sixth St. In addition to bakery items, owners Miguel and Magdalena Jimenez serve hot foods like burritos and tostadas for lunch and dinner. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Friday.

Sanford International has reached a three-year extension agreement with the Minnehaha Country Club to host the PGA Tour Champions tournament. That means Sioux Falls will be the host city through at least 2030.

Nonalcoholic social space Good NAtured is moving into the former Detour Bar spot at 2501 W. 10th St. Wednesday is the final day in the original location at 921 E. Eighth St. Owner Shannon Ward plans to continue offering events and classes and will expand into serving food. She hopes to reopen in April or May at the latest.

To make room for the future Gap Factory store in The Empire Mall, a few retailers have moved. Wonderland, which sells toys and other gift items, relocated next to Build-a-Bear. Headwear retailer Lids moved across the hallway. Amano Inkas is in the former Francesca’s space in the JCPenney wing. The store sells handcrafted Peruvian alpaca wool clothing, jewelry, blankets and accessories. Bella Spa moved across the hallway into the former Shoe Diva space next to Macy’s.

Hirshfield’s has taken over the Diamond Vogel store at 2030 S. Minnesota Ave. and moved there from its location at 3414 S. Minnesota Ave. The Minneapolis-based paint company, which also sells the Benjamin Moore line here, now sells all three brands. In September 2025, Diamond Vogel, the Orange City-Iowa based paint manufacturer, sold its architectural paint business with 11 retail locations to Spectrum Paint, which assumed operations at eight of the stores in central Iowa and planned to sell the others.
