Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

A local restaurant owner is bringing a popular concept to Sioux Falls.Oppa Chicken will specialize in Korean fried chicken. It will be in the former Poke Picks restaurant at 41st and Western, which closed about a month ago. Ramen Fuji owner is partnering with Ricky Ou on the new venture. It’s expected to open sometime this month.

Schemmer, a full-service architecture, engineering and construction field services consultant, has moved from 625 S. Minnesota Ave. to the Hegg Building at 1300 W. 57th St.

Cookie Co., a national cookie business, will open a bakery in a retail center being built on the northeast corner of 69th and Cliff. Franchisee Sarah Storm said it’s likely that she’ll be ready to open early next year. Cookie Co. offers oversized chocolate chip cookies daily and three rotating flavors each week.

Lee Anderson, the co-owner of A Homestead Brew, has started a food truck. The Homestead Terroir Kitchen mostly will serve food at the brewery east of Sioux Falls, but it’s available for public and private events, Anderson said. Menu items often will pair with Homestead beers on tap.

CherryBerry at Dawley Farm Village has new franchise owners. Mike and Rose Maksym and their son, Kaegen Vargas, took over the east-side location this spring.

A Colorado candle company is expanding to Sioux Falls. MatchBox Candle Co., which features 100 percent soy wax candles that are poured on-site, will be in the former 605 Running Co. space at 124 S. Phillips Ave. The owners hope to open in early October.

Agua Fresh has started a ghost kitchen serving superfood bowls with acai or other tropical fruit bases and toppings. Super Bowlz menu items are available to order through DoorDash or by using QR codes found at tables in the restaurant at Ninth and Phillips.

Medical spa Chapter Aesthetic Studio is coming to Sioux Falls. It’s taking the space at 2404 W. 41st St. that Caribou Coffee recently vacated. Chapter Aesthetic Studio provides nonsurgical cosmetic treatments, including face and body care, laser services and injectables. It’s expected to open in summer 2023.

Valentino’s is returning to Sioux Falls after a seven-year absence. Franchisee Jenny Pals plans to open a site that will offer only carryout, delivery and catering services. It will be in a retail center along Ellis Road north of 41st Street. The plan is to open by the end of the year or early next year.

Sinless Sweets, which features gluten-free and vegan desserts, has set an opening date for its first storefront. It will open Sept. 15 in The Bridges at 57th. Owner Maggy Pickner also will offer meals and sell home decor items.

Tony Miller and Jennifer Kriech own a traveling mechanic business that provides service in South Dakota within 75 miles of their home in Madison. Miller Traveling Mechanic does repair and maintenance work. Miller has more than two decades of experience and works on all types of vehicles, including some diesels.
