Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Highest Health Chiropractic is constructing a retail center on 57th Street west of Louise Avenue that will become its new home. The building will have room for additional tenants and is expected to open in late November.

Flying Santo, a taco bar featuring the flavors of northern Mexico, is coming to the Jones421 Building on North Phillips Avenue. Abe Castro and Doug Sager are opening the restaurant, which will have a masked Mexican wrestling theme. The menu will focus on five basics: tacos, burritos, bowls, quesadillas and nachos. They hope to open in June but aren’t ready to commit to a date yet.

Sanford Health and Lewis Drug have started construction on a shared development in northeast Sioux Falls. The Sanford clinic with an attached Lewis Drug retail store and pharmacy will be on the northwest corner of Madison Street and Veterans Parkway. The clinic will include 34 exam rooms, housing family medicine, pediatrics, outpatient physical therapy and women’s services. There also will be a lab, radiology and ultrasound services located inside the clinic. The clinic and Lewis are expected to open in early 2024.

Thyme Cafe has opened in the food court at The Empire Mall. It’s the second location for the restaurant and catering business owned by Taylor Massey. The mall cafe includes a build-your-own pasta bar, salads and made-to-order personal pizzas.

Pro Image Sports has reopened in The Empire Mall under new management, offering an array of sports team apparel and collectibles.

Furniture for Life has expanded into a larger space next to Express and David Jones Fashions after temporarily pausing operation. It offers premium massage chairs, recliners, kneeling chairs and mattresses.

Casey’s has opened on the northwest corner of the Tea exit at Interstate 29. In addition to the usual gas station and convenience store, it includes a separate fueling station for trucks and a trucker’s lounge.

CarSwap has consolidated its two Sioux Falls locations to a new dealership at 2400 Bakker Landing Ave. in Tea. The site is in the Bakker Landing development on the west side of Interstate 29.

Revive Boutique has grown from an online and mobile business into a retail storefront. The women’s clothing store is at 615 E. Brian St. in Tea. It’s open Thursday through Saturday and by appointment on the other days of the week.

A former University of Sioux Falls softball player has started an indoor softball training center in Tea. The Playground, which is owned by Emmie Uitts, offers softball lessons, camps, clinics and team practice space in a building custom-designed for softball. It’s at 22 E. Highpointe St.

The Falls Park Farmers Market and Brandon Farmers Market have started their seasons. Both of those markets are held every Saturday. The Lake Lorraine Farmers Market will be every Thursday, starting June 2. The Downtown Hartford Market will be the first Thursday of the month from June through September and the last Thursday of September. The Canton Open Air Market will be every Thursday from June through August. The Dell Rapids Farmers Market will be every other Saturday from July 30 through Sept. 10.

A group of friends has reopened The Brewery in Salem. The longtime bar and grill, which has a full liquor license, closed in August 2021 and operated as FatKid Saloon for six months before going out of business in late March. Pizzas are The Brewery’s signature item. Other menu offerings include burgers, chicken sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks and appetizers. It’s open daily.

Fareway Stores Inc. is bringing its Fareway Meat Market concept to Luverne, Minnesota. It will be the first location in the state for the meat shop, which will renovate the former W-2’s Quality Meats store at 220 W. Main St. A tentantive opening is set for early fall.

Brix Wine Bar has opened at 330 S. Main Ave. in the space that used to be Wine Time on Main. Almost every country that produces wine is represented, with prices ranging from a $9 glass to a $1,000 bottle, “and everything in between,” said owner Ricarrdo Tarabelsi of R Wine Bar & Kitchen. By the glass, there are four white and four red offerings. It’s open Wednesday through Saturday.

A new food truck, Black Iron Waffles, has started booking private and public events in the Sioux Falls area. It features savory and sweet waffles, including a “grilled cheese” version.

Featuring an array of Lego sets and pieces, both new and used, Bricks & Minifigs opens Saturday. The locally owned franchise store at 2804 W. 41st St. will be open daily. It will start hosting birthday parties in June.

A new store for bargain hunters has opened on the east side of Sioux Falls. DaaBin Store at 3224 E. 10th St. fills its bins with overstocked and returned merchandise every Saturday. The price starts at $7 and then drops every day until Wednesday, when shoppers can fill a bag with items for $10. The store is closed Thursday and Friday for restocking.

Rainy Day Coffee Co., which got its start as a coffee roaster in 2019, has expanded to include a coffee truck that occasionally makes appearances in Sioux Falls. Owner Shania Rozeboom roasts coffee beans at her home in the ghost town of Moe, which is southwest of Newton Hills State Park. Her eight roasts are available online and in area stores. The truck is available for private and public events.
