Chick-fil-A to open east-side location this week
Jan. 12, 2026
East-siders can start lining up for Chick-fil-A this week.
The restaurant confirmed that Thursday, Jan. 15, is the opening day at 4900 E. Arrowhead Parkway, beginning at 6:30 a.m.

It’s the second stand-alone location in the city, following the one that opened at Empire Place in front of The Empire Mall in 2021. There’s also a Chick-fil-A at Augustana University inside Morrison Commons.
The east-side location will offer dine-in, drive-thru, carryout, third-party delivery and Mobile Thru, a dedicated lane for drive-thru mobile orders, along with a play space for kids.
To mark the opening, guests who wear a cow print to the restaurant on Thursday will receive a free entree or kids meal.

John Mitchell is the local owner-operator. He began as a team member in the kitchen one week after graduating college, intentionally trying to learn the business from the ground up, Chick-fil-A said in a statement.
Mitchell is a graduate of the company’s leadership development program and spent nearly two years traveling the country to help open new restaurants.
“I’m grateful for the chance to open a small business and plant roots in the same place my wife grew up,” Mitchell said. “With so many friends and family in the area, Sioux Falls already feels like home, and I’m proud to bring a second locally owned Chick-fil-A to this community.”
Mitchell is marking the opening of the new location with a $25,000 donation to Feeding America, which will be distributed in the Sioux Falls area. The restaurant also will participate in Chick-fil-A’s Shared Table program to redirect surplus food to local nonprofits.

The new restaurant is expected to employ about 100 people. To learn more about job openings, click here.
Hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
