Carsforsale.com acquires auto dealer website, marketing firm

Nov. 1, 2019

Sioux Falls-based Carsforsale.com has acquired Carbase, a Sioux Falls firm that provides auto dealer websites and marketing tools.

Carbase, which was founded by John Bailey approximately 20 years ago, is a natural expansion business line for Carsforsale.com, founder Sean Coffman said.

“It’s been fun to watch Carbase grow and thrive in today’s competitive market,” Coffman said. “We recognized the quality of the Carbase solution and are excited about the opportunity to expand our total offerings and serve additional auto dealers in our region.”

Carsforsale.com will absorb the Carbase operations, which includes fewer than 20 employees, and both businesses will work out of the Carsforsale.com headquarters at Lake Lorraine.

“I’m excited to think about Carbase continuing to be active, growing and thriving in Sioux Falls,” Bailey said. “It’s a great feeling to know that I can take a step back yet continue to be involved in the growth of the Carbase platform.”

The expansion comes amid ongoing Carsforsale.com product innovation and client growth as well as overall organizational growth within other Carsforsale.com business lines, Coffman said.

Carsforsale.com has more than 200 employees.

“Our future is bright,” he said. “Our industry is being reshaped every day, and this new business line not only positions us for success today and in the future, but it allows us to support our local community, which is also very important to us.”
