Candy Clubhouse moves to bigger space at Empire Mall

Jan. 16, 2018

There’s more space for sweets at the new Candy Clubhouse location at The Empire Mall.

The candy business moved to a large spot in the Sears wing that was used for seasonal retail previously.

It reopened over the weekend after being closed for eight days, “and people seemed really excited about it,” co-owner Rob Jaton said.

The business expanded from Rapid City to Sioux Falls last year. The latest mall space is a temporary lease, so Jaton is holding off on adding much new merchandise.

“Once we get a location locked in, I can start adding to fill the store a little better,” he said.

In the meantime, there’s no shortage of sweets. Jelly Belly jellybeans and M&Ms line one wall.

Bulk candy and specialty treats are merchandised throughout the store.

And another wall features toys mixed with candy.

The location likely will be a tantalizing one for kids playing at the nearby children’s play area, which looks directly into The Candy Clubhouse.

“That’s definitely not a bad location at all, where the kids are, and some other businesses down there really drive traffic that way,” Jaton said.
