Boutique closes Sioux Falls storefront to focus on e-commerce

May 1, 2024

The Mason Jar Boutique has closed its Sioux Falls storefront.

April 27 was the last day for the store at The Bridges at 57th.

Owner Katie Wilson shared in a social media post that her online store will continue to operate, “but with the current economy and inflation, it doesn’t make sense for us to keep our retail stores, when 95 percent of our business is online,” she said.

“We’ll still have a designated pickup and drop-off spot in Sioux Falls, so no worries about shipping or returns. The Mason Jar has over 100,000 customers, and this only affects a few hundreds, so we really want to do what’s best.”

The Mason Jar was founded in 2014 and opened in a smaller space at The Bridges in 2021. It moved into the larger space in late 2022.

The space at The Bridges, which is more than 6,600 square feet between two suites, also briefly included a home decor store Wilson owned. It’s for lease with Van Buskirk Cos.

“It’s a large, wide-open space,” listing agent Mike Knudson said. “We’ve had various interest, retail mainly. It’s one of those spaces that’s so wide open almost a gym or something could go in there as well.”

While it was set up primarily as a retail floor, there also was an area that created a small warehouse for shipping, he said.

“It’s probably the largest space open at The Bridges,” Knudson. “There’s noting imminent at this point, but we’ve definitely had some interest in it.”
