Big Orange food truck fills in with taco pub construction delays
June 27, 2024
With delays in construction for the new Taco Vault in Worthing, The Big Orange Truck has come out of storage.
Owner Dean Marshall had put the food truck he operated in the Sioux Falls area for five seasons on the market to pursue opening a restaurant.
It hasn’t sold yet, but that’s proving to be fortunate as Marshall and business partner Austin Metivier work to open The Taco Vault in a former bank building.

“The plan is to open shortly, but we have had some contractor issues,” Marshall said. The original person is no longer on the job, and “we have people helping us get it to where we need it.”
In the meantime, The Big Orange Truck is stationed next to the future restaurant on Worthing’s Main Street across from the Olde Town Dinner Theatre.
Marshall and Metivier plan to be there daily, serving the food truck’s usual offerings in a rotating menu.
“We’ll always have chislic and garlic cheese curds,” Marshall said.

This week, they’ve also been making smash burgers, Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and fries. Saturday, they’re also planning to serve breakfast sandwiches.
The menu includes four flavors of Stensland Family Farms ice cream.
So far, they haven’t been serving tacos, but that will change.
“People are saying they want us to get some tacos, so we’ll get some tacos on there,” Marshall said.

The Taco Vault has an alcohol license, so customers can have a can of beer with their food.
“Worthing is just a short 12-minute drive from Sioux Falls,” Marshall noted, encouraging people to make the trip south of the city.
The plan is to be open daily, and for hours, “right now we’re doing 11 to 8,” he said. “We’re trying to fine-tune to see what the hours will be. It might end up being 11 to 2 and then 5 to 8.”
Updates will be posted on The Taco Vault’s Facebook page.
