Adults-only zoo fundraiser to offer animal meet-and-greets, global cuisine

June 23, 2025

This event listing is sponsored by Sioux Falls Zoo & Aquarium.

Adults have a unique chance to support the Sioux Falls Zoo & Aquarium this week while enjoying behind-the-scenes fun at the Great Plains Zoo.

The annual Zoofari runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday. It’s the organization’s most important annual fundraiser, benefiting the care of animals on both the zoo and Butterfly House & Aquarium campuses.

“Zoofari is a wildly fun evening where adults can rekindle their childhood memories and love for the zoo, or explore our grounds and meet the amazing staff and animals for the first time,” chief operating officer  Audrey Otto-Pepper said.

“It’s more than just an adult night at the zoo — it’s an important fundraiser for our nonprofit organization’s specialized operational needs and the incredible work that happens on both of our campuses every day.”

Zoofari guests can roam the entire zoo campus after hours and:

  • Meet ambassador animals.
  • Indulge in global cuisine from Vespa Catering, which includes R Wine Bar & Kitchen, Mirabella Ristorante, Brix Wine Bar and Trio Jazz Club.
  • Feed reticulated giraffes Olivia Dee and Mario.
  • Gain fascinating insights from animal care staff.
  • Tour the zoo veterinary clinic.
  • Interact with horseshoe crabs.
  • Pose for photos, including in a 360-degree photo booth.
  • Bid on unique zoo experiences and packages in the silent auction.
  • Be the first to hear some big announcements!

Can’t make it? You still can bid on silent auction items!

Note: The zoo will close at 1 p.m. Thursday for event preparation. The last admission will be at noon.
