An organization dedicated to supporting adoption in the Sioux Falls region is celebrating a major milestone this month with a special anniversary event and fundraiser.
All About U Adoptions, founded by Coleen Globke Brasch, was established 20 years ago and has spent the past two decades bringing families together through adoption.
“That’s 20 years of empowering women facing unplanned pregnancies to feel safe, secure and supported in choosing adoption for their babies,” Brasch said. “That’s 20 years of helping adoptive parents expand their families.” In total, more than 330 children have been placed in loving homes through AAU’s work.
AAU is a multistate, licensed child-placing agency and a private 501(c)(3) South Dakota nonprofit providing adoption services in South Dakota, Nebraska and North Dakota.
“The proceeds from this event will help us continue providing personal care, support and education to ensure a quality of life for the adopted child, as well as the birth and adoptive families,” Brasch said. This includes programming for children who were adopted, birth parents who have made the selfless decision to choose adoption for their child, and education and financial assistance for adoptive families.
Cheers to 20 Years celebration
The upcoming Cheers to 20 Years dinner event will take place March 28 at Prairie View Event Hall in Tea. The evening will celebrate adoption stories shared by birth parents, adoptive families and AAU staff, while raising funds to continue providing services for the next 20 years and beyond.
“All About U Adoptions is not just an agency but a compassionate staff dedicated to creating positive and successful adoption experiences for both birth parents and adoptive families,” Brasch said. “At a time when nationwide adoption expenses have soared, AAU has remained committed to affordability, offering services at costs that are nearly 80 percent less than the national average.”
The event program will feature stories from clients whose lives have been touched by adoption, Brasch said, highlighting the lasting impact of AAU’s work.
Ways to support
Supporters can get involved in several ways:
Sponsor the event
Event sponsorships are available at various levels, including brand-recognition opportunities and event tickets.
Table sponsorships offer a way to host friends, family or colleagues for the evening. Individual tickets also are available, and donors may gift tickets or sponsor a table for an adoptive family to attend.
Donate auction items
AAU is seeking donated items for its silent and live auctions, including:
- Grill and outdoor gear
- Smart TVs or electronics
- Event or travel tickets
- Artwork or handmade crafts
- Themed gift baskets
- Wine tastings or restaurant gift cards
“Each donated item helps us raise funds that directly support our mission,” Brasch said.
Scholarship and Sunshine funds
The evening also will spotlight AAU’s Adoptive Family Scholarship Fund, which assists families facing unexpected adoption expenses or the heartbreak of a failed adoption. By helping cover these costs, the fund reduces financial risk and eases the burden during an already emotional journey.
In 2024, the Sunshine Fund was created by adoptive parents Austin and Lindsey Claeys, who named the fund after their son in honor of the light he brought into their lives.
“Many families turn to adoption after facing infertility, often following years of medical procedures and significant financial strain,” Austin Claeys said. “The Sunshine Fund is designed to help with the initial costs of adoption, giving families the chance to achieve parenthood despite earlier challenges.”
The goal is to build the fund to $50,000 and award the first grant at the Cheers to 20 Years celebration March 28.
