If your business finds itself trying to attract talent, develop talent or determine what resources are available to help, this event is for you. The WIN in Workforce Summit will be held from 1 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

This annual event sponsored by the Sioux Falls Development Foundation brings together industry leaders, innovative educators and engaged business leaders from the greater Sioux Falls area to engage and share best practices for workforce development.

“We’ve put together an incredibly deep, informed group of experts to ensure you will leave this half-day event with actionable information and strategies you can immediately begin to put to work in your organization,” said Denise Guzzetta, vice president of talent and workforce development for the Sioux Falls Development Foundation.

The event kicks off with keynote speaker Chuck Gallagher, a business ethics expert who will focus on his experience helping businesses apply unique talent and branding strategies to effectively compete and win in their respective markets.

Known for his expertise with employer branding, Gallagher’s strategies have strengthened the financial performance of many organizations within the sectors of financial services, advanced manufacturing and health care through workforce transformation.

The Development Foundation’s talent and workforce committee led by Kurt Loudenback, president and CEO of Grand Prairie Foods, has planned three learning paths for attendees this year.

“We’re focusing on informative content involving more than 40 speakers from our business community,” he said.

“Whatever your role or your needs organizationally, you’re going to find a path filled with powerful insights.”

Sessions will include Today’s Girls, Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs, featuring Dr. Carmen Simone, head of the Community College for Sioux Falls, Andrea Miller of Journey Group and Karen Lundquist of EmBe. They will share best practices for cultivating leadership skills to equip female leaders in the workforce.

In the session Using Creative Employer Branding to Attract Top Talent, Darren Walker of Sanford Health, Patti Hawley of Midco and Valerie Loudenback of Grand Prairie Foods will discuss strategies to build talent pipelines using traditional and new-media sources.

Other sessions will address topics such as Resettlement and Re-entry: Reimagining the Workforce and How to Equip the Next Generation of Leaders for Any Industry.

Human resource professionals attending will earn five Society for Human Resource Management recertification credits, providing another tangible benefit for attending the 2019 WIN in Workforce Summit

With more than 50 organizations involved this year, the program is varied enough that it will apply to executive leadership, human resource professionals and a broad spectrum of members of the community who share the common goal of developing and attracting talent.

“We recognize that workforce is both a broad and a nuanced topic, and our WIN Summit will address both sides  with topics that are going to resonate throughout our business community and will directly help those in attendance tackle the unique needs of their organizations,” Guzzetta said.
