Giving Back for July
July 31, 2025
Giving Back recognizes businesses and organizations that are helping our communities. Here’s a look at who gave back for July.
First Interstate Bank/First Interstate BancSystem Foundation
Sioux Falls Cares and Feeding South Dakota each received a $25,000 gift from First Interstate Bank and the First Interstate BancSystem Foundation as part of their fourth annual Believe in Local grant campaign. Each year, 40 nonprofit organizations across the bank’s 14-state footprint that are nominated by employees receive a $25,000 gift in support of their mission.
Sioux Falls Cares provides food, clothing, toys and necessities to more than 850 local families every Christmas. First Interstate’s Colleen Elliott, treasury solutions operations manager, nominated the nonprofit for the grant.

Feeding South Dakota distributes food in every county across the state, working with more than 230 community partners. Jay Mitchell, market president in Sioux Falls, nominated Feeding South Dakota.

Other South Dakota organizations receiving $25,000 grants were Aspire Inc., A Bridge Between Us, Mitchell Habitat for Humanity, Victims of Violence Intervention Program Inc. and Watertown Cares.
