Sioux Empire United Way surpasses goal, names annual award winners

Sioux Empire United Way has exceeded its campaign fundraising goal.

The grand total was $9,214,841, surpassing the $9.2 million target.

“Today’s recognition is a testament to the power of community and the spirit of service that drives our mission,” CEO Lisa Romkema said. “Every donation and every hour volunteered brings us closer to building a stronger future for everyone in the Sioux Empire.”

The fundraising achievement allows Sioux Empire United Way to continue funding a wide range of programs focused primarily on children, vulnerable adults and people in crisis

“This year’s campaign has been a powerful reflection of our community’s generosity,” campaign chair Kim Burma said. “Our volunteers and donors have not only helped us exceed our fundraising goal but have also paved the way for even greater impact in the years ahead.”

Along with the successful campaign, Sioux Empire United Way also announced its annual award winners:

  • Cathy Kellogg, Larry Oppold Memorial Award
  • Stacey Tieszen, Helen E. (Oppold) Blair Memorial Award
  • Hailey Srstka, Rich Garry Rookie of the Year Award
  • Capital Services, Business of the Year Award
  • The First National Bank in Sioux Falls, Business of the Year Award
  • Midwest Railcar Repair, Business of the Year Award
  • Randy Dobberpuhl, Brent Weiler Bulldog Campaign Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Melinda Lewing, Volunteer United Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Adrienne McKeown, Community Impact Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Mark Millage, David Birkeland Memorial Award
