Avera
Avera was named to the Most Wired list by the American Hospital Association Health Forum for the 18th time. The list is based on an annual survey that looks at the incorporation of technology into the delivery of health care. Of the 698 hospitals and health systems in the survey, Avera and 25 others were recognized on a Most Wired Advanced list. The survey is published in Health & Hospitals Network and includes a feature on Avera’s telehealth services.

Insurance Professionals of Greater Sioux Falls
Five members of the Insurance Professionals of Greater Sioux Falls, a chapter of the International Association of Insurance Professionals, have received the chapter’s annual awards:
Insurance Professional of the Year: Jennifer Christensen, a senior client service consultant at Holmes Murphy & Associates LLC.
Client Service Professional of the Year: Tammy Carlson, an account manager at Howalt+McDowell Insurance, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC company.
Professional Underwriter of the Year: Linda Medenwald, a surplus lines underwriter at Great Plains Brokerage.
Young New Professional of the Year: Krista Ahrendt, a commercial underwriter at Continental Western Group of Luverne, Minn.
Executive of the Year: Orie Voight, a regional vice president with Continental Western Group.
Three members of the Insurance Professionals of Greater Sioux Falls, a chapter of the International Association of Insurance Professionals, have received awards at the group’s annual convention:
International Client Service Professional of the Year: Jodi Tjeerdsma, a senior client service consultant at Holmes Murphy & Associates LLC.
International Claims Professional of the Year: Lori Boen, a claims supervisor at Continental Western Group of Luverne, Minn.
Nachole Gillis, an assistant account manager at Howalt+McDowell Insurance, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC company, received the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research continuing education scholarship. She plans to use the scholarship to complete her Certified Insurance Service Representative designation.
Mount Marty College
Joe Rutten has been named director of the Benedictine Institute for Leadership, Ethics and Social Justice at Mount Marty College in Yankton. He also will join the faculty as an assistant professor of theology. Through the institute, undergraduates will take one Benedictine leadership course each year, participate in community-service projects and travel to national parks. Rutten previously served for five years as the director of faith formation at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. He also taught at O’Gorman High School and served as the director of the Institute of Religious Studies for Sioux Falls Catholic Schools. The Benedictine Sisters of the Sacred Heart Monastery created an endowment that will allow students to participate at no additional cost above their tuition.
