Harrisburg’s food options grow with new DQ

Nov. 22, 2024

Harrisburg residents are enjoying another national brand that has joined the town’s restaurant offerings.

DQ Grill & Chill opened one month ago at 102 N. Cliff Ave. in front of Fareway.

It’s franchisee Fourteen Foods’ ninth restaurant in the market. Harrisburg joins locations in Brandon and Tea and six in Sioux Falls. Fourteen Foods is the largest Dairy Queen operator in the U.S. with 249 stores.

The new stand-alone building in Harrisburg has seating for almost 70 inside with a mix of regular and high-top tables and booths.

When warmer weather returns, there’s a patio that’s partially covered with seating for a couple dozen customers.

There’s a single-lane drive-thru, and online ordering is available.

General manager Chris Sandusky said the restaurant is fully staffed with 35 employees — a mix of full- and part-time positions. He expects to hire 10 more workers during the summer.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Harrisburg has been home to Subway for years, Jimmy John’s opened in the past year, and Scooter’s Coffee is another new addition.
