Locally owned appliance store opens on 41st Street
July 29, 2024
A new locally owned appliance business has opened on West 41st Street.
Dream Home Appliance and Beds is owned by Joe and Michelle Stanford and is at 2723 W. 41st St. in the Plaza 41 retail center.
Joe Stanford has had a 30-year career in sales, most recently in appliances, “and we just decided to go out on our own and do our own thing, and here we are,” said Michelle Stanford, a full-time dental hygienist whose father ironically retired from selling appliances at Sears.
The store is just under 10,000 square feet, and part of it is being used as warehouse space. It’s next to the Joann fabric and crafts store and opened in mid-June.
“It’s going well,” Stanford said. “We did really well the first month out.”
And that’s without a sign yet, which hopefully is arriving soon, she said.
“We carry all appliances from kitchen to laundry, and we have a line of beds. We have grills and deep freezes,” Stanford said. “We’ll carry all brands.”
Many already are in the store, and others are on the way or can be ordered, she said.
“Our main goal is really to bring the experience back to the consumer,” she said. “Nobody likes to shop for appliances. It’s when you absolutely need it, and it’s dreaded, so we want it to be a good experience.”
Dream Home Appliance and Beds has contracted with a provider to service appliances for now and plans to bring it in-house, she said. The store also offers delivery and installation.
“There’s plenty of places you can go to, but big-box stores aren’t giving anyone to help you,” she said. “You know us, we know you, and we’re here for you and will service what we sell.”
Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
“It’s a great location,” Stanford added. “There’s a lot of traffic here, and who doesn’t love Pizza Ranch and Original Pancake House?”
