U-Haul offering free storage to flood victims
June 22, 2024
Note: This story has been updated to include Minnehaha County.
U-Haul is offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to some area residents impacted by recent heavy rain.
Residents of Minnehaha, Lincoln and Davison counties can take advantage of the offer and use self-storage or portable storage containers as their homes recover.
“We want to help our neighbors recover from these flash floods,” said Eric Erbentraut, U-Haul Company of Fargo president, whose region includes Sioux Falls. “If we can assist people by providing free access to dry storage for 30 days, we’re happy to do that.”
Residents affected by flooding will receive one month of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to residents. U-Box containers can be stored securely at the participating facilities – or delivered and picked up from residential locations at no cost as part of the U-Haul disaster relief program.
The 30-day free offer applies to new storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability. People seeking more information or needing to arrange storage services should contact the nearest participating facility:
