3 favorite local restaurants join forces for Christmas Feast like no other

Dec. 9, 2021

This paid piece is sponsored by Vanguard Hospitality.

This at-home Christmas feast from Sioux Falls restaurants was so popular last year, you’ll want to reserve yours now.

The Vanguard Hospitality restaurants of Grille 26, Minervas and Morrie’s Steakhouse each brought their special touches to the feast, which is designed to take you from Christmas Eve into Christmas breakfast and deliver an incredible Christmas dinner.

“We did this last year for the first time because of the pandemic, and the response was incredible,” Vanguard CEO Ken Bashore said. “So we’re excited to offer it again, we encourage you to reserve yours early and we are honored again be part of so many people’s holiday celebrations.”

Christmas Eve

The feast begins Christmas Eve, when you can choose from Minervas’ best-selling tomato zucchini soup or Morrie’s chicken and wild rice soup, which shines with local, fresh ingredients. And for a special treat, both come with garlic parmesan baguette from our baking genius friends at Breadico.

From there, Minervas rounds out your Dec. 24 meal with its fabulous Cajun chicken pasta salad and potato salad. And its signature bacon cheese spread and smoked salmon with crostini are the perfect appetizer course. Take note: All of these make excellent sides for the following day or leftovers for days following!

Christmas morning

What a perfect way to wake up Dec. 25 – with cinnamon swirl breakfast bread accented with orange cream cheese frosting.

Then, pop an egg bake in the oven filled with goodness: hash browns, bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese, sour cream, chives and Breadico bread.

Christmas dinner

Your Christmas dinner can take on whatever flavor you choose when you select from the following entrees:

  • Madeira-glazed, applewood-smoked Nueske’s ham, with savory andouille stuffing.
  • Beef Wellington, with demi glace and savory andouille stuffing.
  • Roasted chicken and jus, with lemon herb-brined reduced chicken broth and savory andouille stuffing.
  • Morgan Ranch prime rib roast, featuring bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup from JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars and thyme-rubbed ribeye savory andouille stuffing.

Want to add an entree? You can add prime rib or a whole chicken for an additional charge. Note, the prime rib is unprepared, so you’ll need to do some simple prep and allow three to four hours of cook time.

No matter which entree you select, you’ll take home four generous sides:

  • Jalapeno creamed corn.
  • Glazed carrots.
  • Bacon parmesan Brussels sprouts.
  • Mashed potatoes and gravy.

And for dessert, choose your Cake Lady creation – a pecan pie or Dutch apple pie. Plus, you’ll have holiday Chex mix for happy snacking all holiday long.

Retail wines also can easily be added to your order.

Customer feedback

The Christmas Feast in 2020 produced tons of satisfied diners, including this family who wrote to Vanguard:

“We ordered the Beef Wellington for Two. Even though we have three in our family, the portion sizes made it more than enough food for all of us, plus leftovers,” they said.

“The soup, salads, sides, Wellington and dessert were all exceptionally delicious, plus very easy to reheat and serve. Instead of spending hours in preparation for our holiday meals, we relaxed and enjoyed the day. And had leftovers for lunch the day after Christmas!”

Here’s a look at the complete feast. Merry Christmas from Vanguard Hospitality!
