Restaurant Roundup: Breakfast pizza, Sunrise Scoops, soup flights

Invictus Pizza Kitchen is opening early Saturday for breakfast pizzas. Hours are 7 to 11 a.m. Choose your crust; pick your base of jalapeno cheddar, sausage gravy or cream cheese spread; and finish the creation with whatever breakfast pizza toppings you desire. Also available: jumbo caramel rolls, mimosas and coffee.

For a sweet breakfast, swing by Stensland Family Farm’s central location for Sunrise Scoops. From 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, the shop will be serving caramel rolls, Belgian waffles and Berries ‘n Cream Crepes – all with ice cream.

If you love soup, Tavern 180 is offering soup flights with French onion, tomato bisque and butternut squash. They’re $10 and are available all day. Add the flight to an entree for $8 or substitute it for a side for a $6 upcharge.

Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars is the latest downtown bar to serve pizzas made by Sunny’s Pizzeria. Among the offerings is the exclusive 3-Meat 3-Peat, which recognizes Covert’s third consecutive win in the annual Downtown Mash Madness contest among craft brewers and will be available for a limited time. It has spicy marinara sauce with mozzarella, pepper jack, chicken, bacon and Italian sauasage. Other offerings are cheese, pepperoni and The Whole Enchilada, one of Sunny’s newest featured specialty pizzas. Covert is Sunny’s seventh wholesale partner.

The owners of Salas Salsas are having two pop-ups again this weekend with a preview of the menu for their new restaurant, BibiSol, which opens later this spring downtown. Find the food truck from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. and from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Gist Wine Shop.

On Sunday, Ryan Gaede, co-owner of The Smoked Culture BBQ and Brews, is offering a class to teach his techniques for making smoked brisket and pulled pork. In addition to four hours of Barbecue 101 instruction, participants will receive a three-meat platter with two sides, three drinks, a souvenir glass and sticker. The Alibi’s burger of the month is the Cowboy. A quarter-pound patty is topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, onion rings and barbecue sauce and served on a Breadsmith bun.

Or stop next door for The Scapegoat’s pizza of the month. The Hawaiian has chopped pineapple, rosemary ham and mozzarella cheese on a 12-inch, hand-tossed crust. The Scapegoat also has added Garlic Bread Knots to the menu. They’re served with a choice of housemade sauces.

Safari Bar & Grill is serving elk Friday night. The special is one or two elk chops with a pineapple bourbon glaze, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed veggies and a salad.

Bacon Fest, a fundraiser for the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz, will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Remedy at 611. The event includes a bacon-eating contest and a bacon recipe contest. With a $10 Pork Passport, you can try all the bacon recipes and vote for your favorites. There will be a silent auction, raffle, face painting, bacon skewers and Remedy Brewing Co. beer. The April features at R Wine Bar & Kitchen are duck risotto and bananas Foster cheesecake.

Maribella Ristorante’s dishes for the month are Filetto di Bisonte, an 8-ounce bison tenderloin with a red wine demi glaze and butternut squash puree, and Pizza Polpetta with pomodoro sauce, fresh mozzarella, meatballs, ricotta, red onion and fresh basil. For dessert, the Torta di Susine is a yogurt cake with plum topping.

Kaladi’s Bistro has a new menu for spring.

Panera Bread has changed its menu, “refocusing on innovating and enhancing the core Panera items guests love the most: soups, salads, sandwiches and mac & cheese,” the chain said in a news release. There are nine new items and additional “enhanced classics.” New sandwiches include Toasted Italiano, Chicken Bacon Rancher, Tomato Basil BLT and Ciabatta Cheesesteak. New salads are Mediterranean Chicken Greens With Grains, Balsamic Chicken Greens With Grains, Southwest Chicken Ranch and Ranch Cobb. Bacon Mac & Cheese also is new.

New featured dishes have arrived for spring at Granite City Food & Brewery. Offerings include BBQ Chicken Salad, Salmon Panzanella, Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Pesto Linguini.

Granite City also is helping raise money for Make-A-Wish this month with Cocktails for a Cause. The restaurant is donating $1 for every cocktail sold and $2 for the mocktail.

The Brewery in Salem has new daily specials.

Ruby Tuesday has several new menu items. Here are just a few highlights: Deconstructed Kabobs feature grilled beef tips, chicken or shrimp with grilled zucchini, bell peppers and red onion, served over rice pilaf. The Five-Cheese Smashed Burger is two beef patties with American, Swiss, provolone, cheddar and shredded mozzarella. For seafood, try the Hickory Bourbon Salmon. For dessert, Funnel Cake Sundae features vanilla bean ice cream on top of the signature fair treat with caramel and chocolate sauces.

KFC has new Saucy Nuggets. Get 10 pieces for $6. Flavors include Sticky Chicky, Georgia Gold, Honey Sriracha, Korean BBQ and Nashville Hot. The chain also has new specials. On Tuesdays, get an eight-piece bucket of drumsticks and thighs for $10. New Taste of KFC Deals start at $5.

Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews has a new signature cocktail menu: Spark Plug Sangria, Gearhead Limeade, Burnout Bloody Mary, Freaky Tiki, Momma’s Lemonade, Motorhead Margarita, Rusty Crankshaft Root Beer, Limited Warranty Long Island, Manifold Mule, Gearbox Ginger Mule and Carburetor Cosmo.

Friday is National Grilled Cheese Day, and Pita Pit is offering its new Greek Grilled Cheese for free with any purchase in the app.

Changes in hours, service

  • Falls Overlook Cafe has new hours for spring: 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 1 to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The final Rise and Dine: DJ Beats and Brunch is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • MB Coffee & Grill is closed for “a lengthy vacation” until sometime in August.
  • Because of staffing circumstances, Yakkity Yak Coffee Shack will be closed until Monday.
