Your guide to the first-ever Winter Carnival

Sioux Falls’ first-ever Winter Carnival starts Friday with outdoor events and activities for nine days to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire.

The event came out of a grant offered by Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. Highlights include a pop-up ice rink beginning Sunday at 8th & Railroad Center, the Family Snowfest and a winter block party.

It launches with music and food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Shriver Square.
