Women’s clothing store to close at The Empire Mall
Jan. 9, 2026
Longtime women’s apparel retailer Lane Bryant is closing at The Empire Mall.
In an email to customers, the store said its last day in Sioux Falls would be Jan. 17.
The store was saved from closure in 2021 after its owner, Ascena Retail Group, was able to sell four brands, including Lane Bryant, to Sycamore Partners. As part of bankruptcy proceedings, the Sioux Falls store was removed from a potential closure list.
Lane Bryant Inc. is the largest plus-size retailer in the United States.
Love Marlow, a locally-owned boutique at Lake Lorraine that carries sizes 8-28, sent out a statement following the closure announcement.
“As retail options change in Sioux Falls, we want women to know they still have a local place to shop where they are truly considered,” owners Stacey and Leslie Malmgren said. “Every buying decision we make is rooted in fit and quality. We want mid- and plus-sized women to feel seen and not overlooked.”
The boutique is located at 2400 S. Marion Road.
