A Sioux Falls restaurant owner is opening an event venue that will focus on weddings but also host all types of events.

Happy Singh, who owns Shahi India Grill with his brother, is starting Luxe Falls Venue at 2517 S. Shirley Ave. The former YMCA location is just west of the restaurant.

When Singh noticed a real estate sign that the space was available, “the idea came into my mind,” he said of an event venue. He thought through the concept and reached out to a designer and contractors.

“Our goal is to bring that quality and the affordability and luxury at the same time,” he said.

Shahi India Grill will provide catering with its Indian food specialties, but those who rent the space can choose their own food vendor, Singh said.

“The main idea, because I know wedding and event planning can be very stressful, is that I will try to provide as much as I can under one roof.”

The space can hold 260 people, but the setup for tables and chairs will seat 200 people.

“I want all the guests to be comfortable,” he said.

The decor will be neutral as a backdrop to any colors for a wedding or other event, Singh said. The venue will have suites for the bride and the groom, a bar, dance floor and stage.

The area is home to several hotels, restaurants and shopping, which will be a plus for out-of-town wedding guests.

As remodeling work continues, Singh plans to start taking bookings later this month. He envisions opening early next year.

Weddings will be booked for the entire day, and other gatherings can rent the space in six-hour slots.
