Oct. 17, 2022

This paid event listing is sponsored by the Midwest Energy Summit.

An in-depth discussion on energy in the region that includes South Dakota will be held Nov. 1 in Fargo, with an option to join virtually.

The Midwest Energy Summit is hosted by the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber and 26 other chambers across the Upper Midwest.

The summit will cover topics such as power supply reliability and distribution, differing approaches, regulations, innovation, what the future holds and more.

“The event, which is open to the public, may be of particular interest to those with an interest or background in the energy sector but will also be relevant to anyone who utilizes energy – from farmers to small businesses on main street,” said Tyler Fischbach, the FMWF Chamber’s vice president of communications.

The summit will be livestreamed across the Upper Midwest from the Delta by Marriott in Fargo. The day will feature keynote addresses, panels and TED-style talks from regional and national experts and industry leaders in the energy sector. Tony Clark, senior adviser at Wilkinson Barker Knauer and former Federal Energy Regulatory commissioner, and Julie Fedorchak, North Dakota Public Service commissioner, will give keynote addresses. The Midwest Energy Summit’s premier sponsors are Cass County Electric Cooperative and Xcel Energy.

“Our Future of Energy Supply panel and TED-style talks on Trending Topics will provide insight into aspects of our energy challenges and opportunities, emerging technologies, various approaches, policy and regulations, and how critical all of these components are to maintaining and enhancing life and business as we know it,” Fischbach said.

The Midwest Energy Summit has proven to be an impactful and highly requested event and has brought in speakers and national thought leaders to the stage. This year, it welcomes regional and national experts for keynote addresses, panels and TED-style talks from the following businesses and organizations:

  • ALLETE Clean Energy.
  • Basin Electric Power Cooperative.
  • Marathon Petroleum Corp.
  • Midcontinent Independent System Operator.
  • Minnkota Power Cooperative.
  • North Dakota Public Service Commission.
  • Otter Tail Power Co.

“Through this event, we are creating space to bring diverse perspectives to the table,” Fischbach said. “As the summit event series continues to grow with audience and impact in our region, there is a heightened opportunity for difficult, crucial and open conversations regarding the future of energy in our region.”

There are multiple ways to join this conversation Nov. 1. Come in person to the event in Fargo, join the livestream, become a sponsor or join the initiative as a co-host.
