Sioux Falls-based VIKOR is getting into solar energy.

The company recently acquired Iowa-based Trusted Electric Inc., a solar energy construction company with a team of solar energy specialists.

The corporate office will remain in Sioux Falls.

“VIKOR has the capabilities to execute on the projects we offer, and they have the systems and teams in place that will allow us to better serve our customers,” Trusted Electric owner Rob Hach said in a statement.

“Our team is excited to be part of the VIKOR family. Through our partnership with VIKOR, we have the resources to execute on the demand that we have seen for solar construction.”

The deal was finalized in late July.

“Solar is helping to meet America’s growing energy needs. Offering solar solutions in the enterprise space hits VIKOR’s sweet spot,” VIKOR CEO Craig Snyder said.

“We are excited to bring Rob and his team on board to add to our other established service sectors. We look forward to making a difference for the new employees and our new customers.”

VIKOR is a full-service wireless infrastructure construction company. Its customers include all of the national and many regional wireless carriers, public utilities, wind energy developers, oil and gas, and government agencies.

“I think anytime you go into something like this (solar), you want to feel more than just excitement, you want to see an ability to commit,” VIKOR president Jon Eastman said.

“That can only happen when you have a customer you’re excited to work for, a team that has the talent to produce and an economically supportive landscape to compete in. We’ve found that in this opportunity with Rob and his team.”
