What brought you to Sioux Falls?

I was born and raised in Sioux Falls.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

My family business keeps me here, my wife’s family and the wonderful business/personal environment of Sioux Falls. There are very few places I’ve visited that stack up to what Sioux Falls can offer.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Every day brings its own set of unique challenges, and no two days are the same. I love that I get to interact with my co-workers and answer any questions they have while also working directly with customers whenever it’s necessary. In a family business, sometimes you must wear multiple hats, and I’m no exception.

How did you get connected to your industry?

I have been in and around the business since I was 14. After working in the field throughout high school, I wasn’t so sure that the furniture industry was for me. I got my accounting degree and began my professional career in the public accounting world, but I always knew I’d find my way back to the family business eventually. I still find myself in the field every once in awhile, but my outlook on the work is much different than when I was younger.

Authentic, collaborative, reliable.

What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?

I am a huge fan of electronic dance music and have been to festivals/concerts in numerous U.S. states. My wife and I love spending time together and connecting through music.

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

I love giving my time back to my community through nonprofit work with The Longley Foundation, United Way and Live Like Cat. Outside of that, being a Junior Achievement volunteer brings me so much joy.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?
