It maybe shouldn’t be a surprise a coffee shop that has perfected heart-designed lattes would be a popular spot for dates.

But that’s definitely become the case on the east side at Coffea Roasterie, which is attached to First Bank & Trust at Dawley Farm Village.

“It does seem to be a popular date – and first-date spot,” manager Laura Sinkgraven said. “I think a coffee shop can be especially perfect for a first date because it might not be such an intimidating atmosphere to get to know someone.”

Coffea’s ample two-person seating options, casual vibe and focus on fostering community and special experiences all help, she said.

“I feel like people can kind of ‘wow’ their date with the space and the quality of the drinks and pastries they receive, while having a good mix of casual and intimate feel.”

It must work, because those dates have led to more.

“We’ve seen engagements and weddings as well at Coffea because it’s where people consistently spent time together and made special memories in the cafe while they got to know one another, so they really feel like it’s their space,” Sinkgraven said. “We did see quite a few couples come through last Valentine’s Day, so we’re hoping to see more this week.”
