July 26, 2023

This paid event listing is sponsored by Taste the Goodness.

Sample outstanding foods and beverages while supporting a huge community need at the upcoming ninth annual Taste the Goodness event.

This tasting event with food, craft beer, wine and bourbon will be Aug. 5 from 5 to 9 p.m. under the tents at 212 E. 11th St. in downtown Sioux Falls at the Avera Tech Building.

“This is an incredibly fun night with a vibrant atmosphere – a thriving silent auction, engaging games, music and more,” said Sammie Schofield, marketing and communications specialist for the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota.

New this year: A lounge sponsored by Dewitt Designs will invite guests to relax and unwind.

“This area will feature outdoor patio seating, so you can sit back and enjoy the music and festivities,” Schofield said.

Taste the Goodness benefits the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House, which offers daytime and overnight emergency shelter for the homeless and vulnerable. And, coming soon, the Bishop Dudley Center for Families will house 10 families in a safe, secure location in the former Children’s Inn at 409 N. Western Ave.

The Center will have 10 apartment-style units, along with kitchen and laundry facilities. With the additional space, programming will expand to include life skill classes such as financial literacy, renter’s rights, healthy living and other vital education.

“As BDHH continues to expand their services, they need financial support now more than ever,” Schofield said. “This is also a great opportunity for our community to learn more about the organization at the event through an information booth.”

If you can’t attend, you still can join in the silent auction fun or donate online. Digital bidding will be available for all items. Start bidding early here.

Tickets to Taste the Goodness are $49 in advance and $55 at the event, which includes unlimited tastings. Find tickets here.

You must be 21 to attend, and no pets are allowed other than identified service animals.

“Now in its ninth year, this has become a great opportunity to support a very important ministry while having a great night of fun, tastings and spending time with family and friends,” Schofield said. “We’re looking forward to another fantastic event.”
