Swamp Daddy’s Cajun Kitchen reopens downtown
Oct. 8, 2024
Eight months after a glycol leak forced a closure and renovation, Swamp Daddy’s Cajun Kitchen is back.
The restaurant inside the Jones421 Building at 421 N. Phillips Ave. returned over the weekend with a soft opening and fully reopened today.
Since announcing the return, “it’s been crazy,” owner Inkka Beaudion said. “We’ve had a lot of people on social giving us congrats and praise, and they’re happy to see us open. So that’s nice to see, and now we want people to come in and eat.”
The menu will be reintroduced in multiple phases to give the new staff time to learn the dishes, she said.
The restaurant has opened, however, “with a decent-size menu,” Beaudion said. “It’s a good variety of things we offer.”
New dishes coming include shrimp and grits, a BLT made with pork belly and green tomatoes, and a pecan praline chicken and waffles.
The space itself has been fully renovated with two dining areas and a bar on one side.
“There are a few changes and cosmetic things we need to do, but I’m really excited to have customers coming in and see our regulars and meet new people,” Beaudion said.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
