Located at 605 E. Eighth St., the venue is a partnership between the owners of Carpenter Bar, Highball and The Treasury and the owners of event venues Convolo and Casetta, who will manage the space.

“It’s coming together great, and the space has really warmed up a lot from being an industrial building into an elegant venue with unique features,” co-owner Angela Merritt said.

“We think people will be really excited with the elevated and creative touches we have put in the space. The response we are getting has been very positive.”

Once inside, people have been pleasantly surprised at how big the space is, especially with the feel from its tall, open-rafter ceilings, she said.

“Many of our initial visitors describe how excited they are to have a modern industrial venue option now and especially one downtown,” Merritt said.

Monick Yards offers a 12,000-square-foot space that can hold up to 400 guests for seated events or can be subdivided. There’s also a patio offering comfortable seating and gathering spaces outdoors, with a door from the venue that creates an indoor-outdoor feel.

From 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Monick Yards will host a grand opening that’s open to the public.

Guests will enjoy craft cocktails curated by the team behind Carpenter Bar, Highball and The Treasury.

Dine on tastings from Monick Yards’ preferred caterers — Chef Dominique’s, En Place Catering and Vespa Catering — as well as desserts by The Treasury.

Sample whiskey or indulge at a champagne tower and mimosa bar.

You’ll be entertained by the fun, upbeat vibe of the Hegg Brothers in the Reception Hall and a mellow piano set by The Teel Sisters in the Grand Hall.

Floral displays will showcase the work of Jane Rae Events, and you can go home a winner, with up to $1,000 in giveaways from the owners and Hotel on Phillips.

“This is meant to be much more than a ribbon-cutting – it’s a chance to bring guests inside the space and show them what an event here can be,” co-owner Anne Haber said. “We want people to have fun, sample our work and hopefully be inspired to come back when they’re ready to host an event.”

And you might want to begin planning today. Monick Yards is receiving interest for corporate events already this fall and winter. There’s also an option to book one side of the venue for smaller corporate parties.

“We have started to take bookings and already have dates blocked off in 2024 and 2025 and many more waiting to book once they can see the finished product,” Merritt said. “So we expect our dates to fill fast after the official opening.”

Can’t make the ribbon-cutting, or want to see more?

Monthly Sip and See events will invite people to stop in, have a beverage and check out the space.

Stop by the first Monick Yards Sip and See from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 9. Or take a tour anytime by emailing [email protected] to schedule a private tour. For more details on the venue, click here.
