Brides- and groom-to-be, you will not want to miss this one-of-a-kind wedding event coming to downtown Sioux Falls – and neither will your family and friends.

The VOW Wedding Showcase will be presented by Monick Yards from 1 to 4 p.m. May 5 at the venue at 605 E. Eighth St.

Monick Yards already has become a sought-after space for weddings of many sizes and formats, but no matter what kind of wedding you’re planning, you’ll leave The VOW filled with ideas for how to make your day especially memorable.

“We’re kicking off a busy wedding season starting this May, and we’re so excited to see the space transform from wedding to wedding. We hear over and over again that brides are so excited to book a modern space with new aesthetic features and statement pieces,” said Angela Merritt,  who co-manages the venue with Amy Boes.

“Monick Yards’ interior has been focused as a stunning nod to unique design trends not seen in the area, and The VOW will also highlight that same thought process: upcoming trends that you haven’t seen yet.”

The VOW is designed to be educational and interactive, with a curated mix of experts ready to share wedding trends.

“This is much more than a typical, marketing-driven event with brochure handouts and quick-pitch style show,” Merritt said. “Amy has experience planning and creating really cool, interactive speaker events from her time in Minneapolis, so we wanted to tap into that experience and create a great experience for Sioux Falls brides.”

The VOW will feature vendors with established reputations in the industry. By keeping the show to a limited size, each vendor has an opportunity to provide mini consultations, showcase their talents and connect with brides.

“The aesthetic of the show will also be something to see in its own right. We have some of the best local florists, planners and rental companies involved, who will really make the space an inspirational vision for brides to see what is possible at their own weddings,” Merritt said.

“Each styling will be centered around upcoming trends and unique styles. A lot of times, you see really innovative trends start in larger cities like New York and LA and then work their way here over the years. We want to try to shorten that curve time and show brides those trends while they’re still on the cutting edge.”

Speaker sessions, which will run from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., will feature real, actionable advice from experienced wedding planners. They’ll cover what’s up-and-coming in the wedding industry, new trends to explore, tips on planning the perfect day and how brides can shape their Pinterest vision into reality.

“When planning a wedding, new brides are suddenly thrown into a world with so many large and small details, strict timelines and costly decisions to make. Jumping into the planning can come natural for some and be extremely daunting for others,” Merritt said.

“No matter their situation or where they are at in the planning, we know hearing advice from the top wedding planners in the area would be extremely helpful to cover all their bases, give them some tips to stretch their budget, point out details that sometimes get missed until the day of the wedding and also talk about the upcoming and unique trends.”

These planners have planned and attended hundreds of weddings, “and so it goes without saying that they can provide valuable insight when planning one of the most expensive events of your life,” she continued. “We want couples to walk away with true, actionable advice that they can apply to their planning journey, as well as some inspiration for ideas they may not have thought of.”

But it’s not just for couples. The VOW truly is going to be a fun, immersive experience. You can sample from top caterers, taste incredible cocktails from the mixologists at Monick Yards and Carpenter Bar Group and try out all kinds of fun services that could be part of a wedding experience.

“The interactive portion is a super-fun part that anyone can enjoy. We encourage brides to bring their bridesmaids, families or friends to join in on the fun,” Merritt said.

“There will be makeup demonstrations and applications, skin consultations, IV therapy on-site in heated anti-gravity chairs, vitamin treatments, try out flavored oxygen treatments and red light masks. Not to mention the music entertainment from DJs and a photo booth experience. Brides can get their engagement ring cleaned and also learn about dress silhouettes, decor trends and so much more. Grooms can check out ring bands and suit trends as well. There’s definitely something for everyone.”

Admission is $8 and includes:
