Aug. 26, 2019

Longtime Sioux Falls family business Sigler Fire Equipment Co. has been acquired by a Minnesota company.

SFP Holdings Inc. subsidiary Summit Fire Protection is a growing national fire and life safety company that has a presence in 11 states. Sigler is a fourth-generation family business that has served Sioux Falls and Sioux City for 75 years.

“I am happy to become a part of the Summit team, and I am extremely pleased that our associates will continue on with Summit Cos.,” Kim Sigler said in a statement.

“I want to thank our customers for their loyalty over the last 75 years in business, and I’m confident they will continue to receive an excellent level of service. Summit is the leader for fire and life safety, and this partnership will bring us to the next level as we offer our valued customers a one-stop fire and life safety package.”

Sigler has nine employees and is located at 710 N. Western Ave.

After meeting with Sigler, “we were extremely impressed with his overall operation,” Summit CEO Jeff Evrard said. “He has built a solid company over the past 75 years, and we are proud to be a part of the success story of this company.”

The Sioux Falls location complements an earlier acquisition for Summit in Rapid City, Evrard said. The Sioux City location adds to its growing presence in Iowa.
