Sioux Empire United Way CEO resigns

Jan. 2, 2024

The leader of Sioux Empire United Way has resigned after less than two years in the role.

Alan Turner II’s departure was announced by the organization today. Longtime banking leader Pam Hanneman will join the organization as interim president and CEO.

In addition to most recently serving as vice president of business banking and business banking manager at First Premier Bank, Hanneman has a long history of supporting Sioux Empire United Way, including more than 25 years of volunteer roles and an 11-year tenure on the board of directors. She served as the 2016 campaign co-chair and co-chaired Women Unite for two years.

She begins the new role Jan. 8 and will work alongside chief operating officer Christina Riss.

Over the next 30 to 60 days, the board of directors “will be actively engaged in finalizing the long-term plan for the leadership of the organization,” according to a news release.

“In the midst of this transition, SEUW is pleased to report that the 2024 campaign is well underway, with 72 percent of the fundraising goal already achieved,” it continued. “As the campaign moves towards its conclusion, every dollar contributed will have a meaningful impact on the community. The organization expresses its sincere appreciation to all donors, volunteers and supporters who have played a crucial role in helping SEUW to positively impact the lives of children, vulnerable adults and people in crisis.”

Turner joined Sioux Empire United Way in May 2022 and transitioned with longtime CEO Jay Powell as he retired.
