Trends meet technology at this year’s annual Sioux Empire Home Show, where you’re guaranteed to leave inspired to upgrade your living spaces in ways large and small.

The popular annual event from the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire will be this weekend at the Sioux Falls Convention Center and Arena. Hours are:

  • Friday from 1 to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“It’s a big show, and it seems to be getting bigger every year,” said Julie Redlin, business development manager at Rainbow Restoration of Sioux Falls and this year’s Home Show chair.

“We have more than 270 booths, and even with the event days away, we still have vendors signing up,” she said earlier in the week.

Visitors will find everything from designers and landscapers to builders and mortgage lenders, along with specialists in windows, furniture, remodeling, technology and more.

“Every little thing you can think of for a home is there, and there are multiple options in most categories, so you can connect with vendors who fit your style and preferences,” Redlin said.

This year’s show highlights fresh design inspiration, functional upgrades and smart-home innovations. Outdoor living spaces continue to trend, with backyards designed as relaxing extensions of the home — beautiful, practical spaces families can truly enjoy.

“You’ll see so many creative ideas that make you look at your home differently,” Redlin said.

New technology also will take center stage, including a dedicated area from Montgomery’s that will feature interactive furniture equipped with built-in speakers.

“It’s surround sound-plus,” Redlin said. “It’s going to be very cool, and I’m excited for people to experience it.”

Families won’t want to miss the Kids Building Zone, presented in partnership with Builders FirstSource. Children can build their own wooden toolbox using real tools in a fun, hands-on environment. The activity is free with adult admission and will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Redlin’s advice: Download the HBASE app, available for Apple and Android phones.

“You’ll save $1 on admission, and the app provides a full list of vendors along with booth locations, so you can plan your visit and make sure you don’t miss anything,” she said. “Wear comfortable shoes, and you may even want to come multiple days to take it all in.”

Parking is free, and arriving early is encouraged.

Regular admission is $8, and children 12 and younger are free.
