Seven ways to save money and get out of the house this holiday break

Winter break doesn’t have to lead to cabin fever for GreatLIFE members. There are plenty of ways to have fun, save money and spend time as a family this holiday season while using a GreatLIFE membership.
Member appreciation
GreatLIFE wants to say thank you to its members with a fantastic, free family event. On Dec. 30, come to GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club for a day filled with fun activities.
From 9 a.m. to noon, kids and families can challenge each other in an inflatable obstacle course, climb a rock wall, take some memories home from a photo booth and see some visiting zoo animals. Grab a bagel and coffee while you’re there, too!
From 5 to 8 p.m., members 21 and older are invited to a backyard barbecue! Come hang out on our patio filled with food, s’mores and wine while watching college football bowl games or checking out a rock wall, mini golf and yard games.
Plus, bring a friend to Woodlake on Dec. 30 only and receive a $100 GreatLIFE gift card when your friend signs up for a 12-month membership.
Roll into 2018
Join Skate City to ring in 2018 with a family skate party from 9:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 30. Admission is $7 plus regular rental rates. Parents skate for free with a child’s admission. Enjoy door prizes, a balloon drop and party favors.
Or stay up late with a Dec. 31 celebration starting at 8 p.m. and lasting until 12:30 a.m. Admission is $10 for a night of skating, music, door prizes and a balloon drop at midnight.
And don’t forget, GreatLIFE members always receive half-price admission from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday nights and $1 off any public skating session except teen and adult skate nights.
Sky Wars
Kids — and adults — of all ages are going to love the latest addition at Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park, debuting this week.
Think dodgeball with Nerf guns and you’ve got Sky Wars. Dunk and dodge behind inflatable bunkers while trying to take out your opponent with a Nerf gun — all on trampolines, of course!
Plus, GreatLIFE members receive half-price admission on Tuesdays and $3 off jump packages Wednesday through Friday. One parent per child can jump for free with the purchase of a jump package Tuesday through Friday.
Bowling break
Take in a game or try out all three bowling centers that offer deals and free bowling to GreatLIFE members. Plus, don’t miss New Year’s Eve cosmic bowling at Empire Bowl, beginning at 4 p.m. Make sure to reserve your spot!
Jumping fun
Burn up some energy inside at Carolan Rental & N-Flatable Fun. The newly turfed fun zone is packed with inflatables and games. GreatLIFE members get half off during open jump times 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 1 to 7 p.m. Sundays.
Tropical trip
Escape the cold with a trip to the Butterfly House & Aquarium, where the conservatory is always kept at 80 degrees and colorful plants and butterflies thrive.
GreatLIFE members receive half off admission Tuesdays and a 25 percent discount any other weekday. Want repeat trips? Annual memberships are 25 percent off for GreatLIFE members, too.
