Sanford’s new board chairman hails from small Minnesota town

Sanford Health’s new board chairman is a family medicine physician from Perham, Minn., a town of 3,000 in Otter Tail County.

Dr. Mark Paulson’s history with the health system began when he served on the board of North Dakota-based MeritCare. He transitioned to the Sanford board of trustees after the two organizations merged in 2009 and has served in its leadership the past several years.

The other members of the 14-person board’s leadership are:

  • Brent Teiken, CEO of Sundog, Fargo, vice chair.
  • Donald “Jake” Jacobs, Townsquare Media Market manager/vice president, Sioux Falls, secretary.
  • Jim Cain, Cain Brothers, New York City, treasurer.
  • David Beito, Northern State Bank president, Thief River Falls, Minn., past chair.

The other members of the board are:

  • Dr. Maria Bell, Sanford Gynecologic Clinic, Sioux Falls.
  • Patrick Durick, attorney at Pearce & Durick, Bismarck, N.D.
  • Barbara Everist, former South Dakota state senator, Sioux Falls.
  • Melissa Hinton, attorney at Evans, Haigh & Hinton LLP, Sioux Falls.
  • Thomas Hruby, retired owner of Tom Hruby & Associates, Bemidji, Minn.
  • Kelby Krabbenhoft, CEO, Sanford Health, Sioux Falls.
  • Dr. Mike LeBeau, Sanford nephrology and internal medicine, Bismarck.
  • Dr. Mark Lundeen, Sanford Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Fargo.
  • Andy North, professional golfer, Madison, Wis.
