Sanford starts work on clinic, Summit League office at Sports Complex

Jan. 8, 2019

Sanford Health has broken ground on a new building at the Sanford Sports Complex that will combine clinic space with office headquarters for The Summit League.

The 8,000-square-foot building will house the Sanford Acute Care and Orthopedic Fast Track Clinic, with on-site laboratory and imaging services, plus immediate access for athletes using the Sports Complex. It’s also designed to add care capabilities and convenience for an expanding area of the Sioux Falls region.

“We continually evaluate population growth patterns because Sanford Health is committed to providing easy access to health care all across and around Sioux Falls,” said Paul Hanson, president for Sanford Health Sioux Falls. “With the rapid growth in the area, adding clinical services at the Sports Complex is a natural fit.”

The Summit League office space will house leadership of the athletic conference, which offers 19 championship sports and has a combined enrollment of nearly 115,000 at nine institutions. The league has hosted its men’s and women’s basketball championships in Sioux Falls since 2009.

“We are extremely grateful to be partnered with Sanford Health on this project,” said Tom Douple, commissioner of The Summit League. “Our new offices will definitely provide expanded services for our membership.”

The new building is scheduled to open this fall.
