The annual Taste of Sioux Falls event Nov. 7 will feature creations from 15 outstanding bars and restaurants, all to benefit SculptureWalk.

It runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown.

“Options for food will include great samples of entrees, appetizers, desserts and cocktails,” said Jim Mathis, a member of the event’s planning committee and the SculptureWalk board.

“While there are other food events in town, the quality of restaurants here sets Taste of Sioux Falls apart. They’re all top notch, and some of the finest restauranteurs and chefs in the city will be there.”

Those signed up to participate are:

  • Bread & Circus Sandwich Kitchen, the defending People’s Choice champs
  • CH Patisserie
  • Coffea Roasterie
  • Crave
  • Holiday Inn City Centre
  • K Restaurant
  • M.B. Haskett Delicatessen
  • Myers’ Deli & More
  • Ode to Food & Drink
  • Parker’s Bistro
  • R Wine Bar
  • Sanaa’s 8th Street Gourmet
  • Swamp Daddy’s Cajun Kitchen
  • The Carpenter Bar and The Treasury
  • Vanguard Hospitality – Minervas

“We really enjoy this event,” said Ken Bashore, CEO of Vanguard Hospitality. “It gives our team the chance to be creative, try out some new flavors and let our chefs show their skills.”

Taste of Sioux Falls also pays each restaurant $500 to cover the cost of food, “which encourages them to invest in better-quality ingredients and be more adventurous with their creation,” Mathis said.

Best of all, funds raised benefit the enormous, popular SculptureWalk program, which had a landmark year in 2019 for its 16th anniversary with the installation of the Arc of Dreams.

Next year will bring up to five dozen new sculptures throughout downtown.

“The timing of the Arc of Dreams project coinciding with the beautiful Levitt Shell just a stone’s throw away could not have been better. The combination of those projects along with our great SculptureWalk, the thriving Washington Pavilion, the new management at the Orpheum and the announcement of new investments at the State Theatre all show the tremendous support the arts have here in Sioux Falls,” Mathis said.

“While we believe SculptureWalk has been one of the catalysts for the arts’ growth in Sioux Falls, a monumental sculpture like the Arc of Dreams really takes our program not just to the next level but raises it several levels.”
